One day, as I was working in the copy room at my old high school, I was eavesdropping on a conversation between two teachers. Well, actually it wasn't technically eavesdropping because they were fully aware I could hear everything they were saying and there was no way I could not not listen to their conversation (yep, intentional double negative).
Anyways!
One of these teachers was my English teacher, and the other teacher was some random dude that I will probably never know what his name is.
The conversation went a little like this:
English teacher: Hey (random dude's name that I can't for the life of me remember), what are your plans for spring break?
Random dude: Nothing. Probably just lots of naps.
English teacher: Good, good. Naps are one of the most underrated things in this world. That, and chocolate milk.
Don't ask me why, but this extremely random conversation has stuck with me. I didn't think anything of it as I was making copies at the time, but why would I? Everything that came out of my teachers mouth was like this nugget of wisdom. I seriously would not be surprised if he stayed up all night writing fortune cookies as a side job.
But, I continued thinking about what he said and I realized that, wow, there are so many things that slip through my grasp in life because I simply don't give them the appreciation that I should. I don't mean the big things because I absolutely appreciate those. I mean the little things that I truly enjoy, but I don't really realize it while its happening.
So, thank you Mr. H for inspiring this beautiful thought I have enjoyed entertaining.
